It's les Tireux d'Roche's 15th anniversary!
2013 marks the Tireux d'Roches' 15th anniversary. It's been an exciting ride filled with creation, camaraderie and memorable tours.
The original 4 member formation included Anne Tessier and now famed story-teller Fred Pellerin as well as the band's founders Dominic Lemieux and Denis Massé. In 1999 Jeannot Bournival joined the team, after which a number of musicians came and went.
For our 15th we would like to salute all those who have journeyed within our ranks: percussionists Francis d’Octobre and Gabriel Lemieux-Maillé, cellists Mario Giroux and Philippe Muise d’Entremont, flute/saxophone players Claude Vendette and Jeannot Bournival, bassists Sébastien Salicetti and Igor Bartula and finally, original members/storytellers Fred Pellerin and Anne Tessier.
For the past three years the group's personnel has remained unchanged with Per, Dave, Luc, Dominique and Denis. And because they contribute so much to our success and professionalism, we must include our sound-man "Gélo" Gélinas and our manager Jean-François Guindon. Together we've travelled to Germany, Spain, Belgium, have criss-crossed all of France, and have visited 8 provinces and one territory in Canada.
15 years later and with hundreds of shows under our belt, the creative process is truly a family affair and les Tireux enjoy performing live more than ever. The stage has evolved into a playground involving band members and audiences alike.
Considered innovators in the local traditional music scene, we are also exemplary ambassadors of the present state of Québécois culture abroad. Our music is considered world-beat or folk in the context of the global village.
In addition to our journeys to Europe and Canada, there are several significant Quebec shows worth highlighting: le Grand Spectacle de la Fête Nationale at Montreal's Maisonneuve Park, 7 nights at Montreal's Place des Arts, Quebec city's Fêtes de la Nouvelle-France (twice), le Festival de la chanson de Tadoussac, le Carnaval de Québec, les Francofolies de Montréal (thrice), Laval's Mondial Choral as well as two broadcasted shows on the French CBC radio network.
In 2013 the adventure continues with the release of our fifth album and a number of shows added to our perpetual touring.
There's a lot to celebrate in 2013 for les Tireux d'Roches, we look forward to seeing you!
