This award recognizes excellence within the Mauricie region's arts and culture field.

A jaunt in France.

Following their summer tour, the six members of les Tireux d'Roches are taking a leave of absence from each other. But fear not! They will soon regroup to conquer the old continent yet again. From October 19th-23rd they will reunite and join forces with Les Dièses from France to perform a mini version of the 400 coups tour of 2008. Those of you who will be in the Poitou Charente region will no doubt want to witness this excellent musical adventure. Details can be found by visiting the SHOWS section. See you there!

Summer touring with Les Tireux d'Roches

This summer, les Tireux d'Roches will be reeling and spreading their characteristic good times throughout Canada.

 

The summer tour officially started on June 24th by celebrating Saint-Jean Baptiste in 72 hours of continuous daylight with the french speaking residents of Iqaluit, Nunavut's capital. This extraordinary trip to the top of the world will forever be etched in the minds of spectators and band members alike.

 

Then on July 5th they will be sharing the stage with Europes' "Tram des Balkans" at the Divan Orange in Montreal.

 

On July 9th and 10th they will be performing at Sudbury Ontario's Northern Lights Festival. On July 16th at the historic Fort Témiscamingue. On July 24th and 25th its back to Ontario at Guelph’s Hillside Festival. Then on July 29th, they are back in la belle province for a concert in Joly.

 

On August 3rd, after a two year absence, they will perform in Quebec City for a much anticipated return to Les Fêtes de la Nouvelle France.

 

On August 5th and 6th they will perform at the Newfoundland and Labrador folk festival in St-John's. They have never played in this province and they are looking forward to making new friends on The Rock.

 

Next up, they travel along Québec's north-shore, Gaspésie and into New Brunswick: Sept-îles August 9th, Port Cartier the 10th, Gaspé the 11th, Petit Rocher on the 13th, Caraquet's Festival Acadien on the 14th and last but not least, Bonaventure on August 15th.

 

These are summer events not to be missed!

4 awards at the Tradostars!

"Chroniques Trad" is a blog which has issued 4 "Tradostar" awards to les Tireux d'Roches in 2010 including:

 

-The "Première Moisson" award for the province of Québec's first traditional album of the year, "Cé qu'essé".

-The Vitalis award.

Of thé band organisers wrote:"Les Tireux d’roches ont une énergie de forains et jonglent avec les musiques d’ici et d’ailleurs, avec les mots, avec les musiques contemporaines et traditionnelles"

The name comes from St-Rémi, home of famed elderly and homeless busker "Vitalis"

An ADISQ nomination for "Cé qu'essé?"

Les Tireux d'Roches have been nominated in the best traditional album of the year category for their fourth album "Cé qu'essé?". The winner will be announced on November 1st.

 

In the meantime, listen to "Cé qu'essé?" with your fingers crossed.

les Tireux d’Roches at the Grande Fête Nationale!

This year, les Tireux d’Roches will participate in the Grande Fête Nationale festivities at Maisonneuve park in Montreal.

 

People already on site and those arriving from the parade will be treated to their colourful brand of trad-folk music starting at 5:30 pm on June 24th.

 

Later in the evening they will be featured performing a song from their latest album, La St-Jean/ Pont Rouge

 

They will also be accompanying some of Quebec’s best known artists as they take the stage.

 

A not to be missed event, whether on site or on the CBC’s French network!

Les Tireux d'Roches release their fourth album

Their third album "Roche, papier,ciseaux" was released under the Musivox Label and distributed by Outside Music. This album was nominated at ADISQ and Folk Alliance Awards. Now, With the release of their fourth album "Cé qu'essé?" recorded at "Aux berges du lac Castor" in the Mauricie region and at the renowned Studio Claude Champagne, they continue doing what they do best: The spreading joy and good times. Both "Roche, papier , ciseaux" and "Cé qu'essé" where produced by Jeannot Bournival, well known for his work on famed québecois conteur Fred Pellerin's last two albums. An honorable mention goes out to the funky lenticular album cover!

 

 

Les Tireux d'Roches have performed official showcases at the OCFF Conference in 2006 and Folk Alliance Canada in 2005. For 13 years, this Quebecois folklore group has been playing traditional music inspired by the traditional Quebecois repertoire, with a uniquely creative touch. Live or recorded, Les Tireux d’Roches know how to impress crowds and never go unnoticed. Les Tireux d'Roches regurarly tour Europe, have participated in Folk Alliance Showcases in San Diego and Montréal, have played at "Les Francofolies de Montréal" and many major venues in Montreal including Le Medley, Le Club Soda, la Place Des Arts

and le Corona. A live broadcast of one of their shows was aired twice on the French CBC radio network.

 

Other highlights include: the Calgary Folk Music Festival, the Mission Folk Festival, the Harrisson Festival of the Arts, le Printemps des Bretelles, les Francofolies de Montréal, the Toronto Winterfolk festival, La Grande Rencontre, le Carnaval de Québec, les Fêtes de la Nouvelle-France, le Festival Mémoires et Racines, Été Couleur Vienne and le Mondial Choral.
